What’s kortuneFookie ?

Imagine an interactive installation housed in an oversized cedar cookie that delivers fortunes with the simple touch of a button... Enter the realm of the kortuneFookie !

KortuneFookie is an interactive public art project, a large scale 4 foot high pixelated fortune cookie made of red cedar which grants users a printed fortune with a simple touch of a button. Besides being a very cool way to obtain a fortune, the particularity of this project is that it is KortuneFookie’s social network that creates its content.

Inspired by the idea of the fortune cookie given in North American Chinese restaurants, I wanted to create an interactive piece that would permit different users to share their thoughts and reflections between themselves. When you read a fortune obtained from a cookie, you wonder and ask yourself who created that fortune ? Is it a somewhat « real » divination or just a simple prank ? The goaI of the project is to infuse the public with that divination power by offering them the opportunity to create the texts that are distributed by the interactive kiosk. Users become the shamanic force behind the fortunes.

kortuneFookie is a public art project that is in need of your help ! Send us your innermost secret, or your smarmiest wisecrack, or your private prayer, or your most outlandish prediction - Let your imagination and/or your heart guide you (spontaneously). Your text will be compiled and presented in the art installation presented in a city near you ! Visit this site to know where the cookie will be presented next. We require that all submissions be original (created by you). All submissions are to remain anonymous and copyrights free.

Come and get your Fookie !
